Generally a crappy, stressful day. But now I'm off to Gulf Wars!

Wow... it's been too long since I've updated this log.

Interesting things have been happening lately... some of them are good, some of them not so much. On the good side, I've learned how to bake one of the more famous and rich French desserts ever, and I've been made what equals out to being an ambassador for Redewolfden when the King of Gleann Abhann visits our little event next month. On the bad side, I've had a lot of stressful and stupid things in my mundane life.

But I have a cat. That makes it okay.

I've got a garb pattern that I need to finish so that I can get the thing sewn together before Gulf Wars... I'll be leaving to head down there on the morning of the 15th, so I don't have much time left. If I don't get it finished in time, then I'll try to get it done by Shadow of the Wolf.

I am too quickly coming to the realization that I don't get nearly enough sleep. Between Sunday and now I'm running on an hour-long nap, and I find that I still have several hours worth of work left to do (and a full day planned for tomorrow.) Yo, ho, a pirate's life for me.

I've been thinking lately about the course of events that have led me to my current position... Andres, son of the son of a respectable merchant, now sitting as first mate on a pirate ship. A Spanish ship with a French name.

In all truth, though, I believe that the job almost fits me. I first left Sevilla because it wasn't really home anymore, and one shipwreck and lost family fortune later I found myself wandering into the lands of Redewolfden. Now as I feel those same winds blowing that carried me away from my father's estate, I find that I have the Fleche Noire to guide my wanderings.

When finally the time comes for me to leave these fair lands of the Gleann and strike out again into lands unknown, it eases my heart a little to know that I'll have the support of my crewmates and the captain. I just hope that he doesn't expect me to wear some sort of uniform...

It's odd how things work, isn't it? After all, one of the reasons that I quit my "real job" to become a writer was so that I would be able to set my own schedule and make it to more events. Now, I've got so much work that has to be finished up in the next month that I probably won't hit another event this year. Damn.

On the plus side, I'll be getting almost $3,000 when it's all done (minus what I'm paying the hired help.) After that, I may be starting a $6,000+ job that'll set me up well for Gulf Wars. Here's hoping...

Other than that, not much going on. Stopped wearing the leather trench lately (since it's friggin' cold in the Gleann), and have started wearing a tan longcoat. It's not a lot better, but at least the lining stays in...

I've spent the night toiling away at my work... writing, writing, and writing some more. The first vestiments of sunrise are already beginning to show, and at last I can say I've finished my tasks and can settle into a gentle slumber for at least a few hours.

Peace be with you, fine readers... I promise to give you more details when I have a chance.

In service,

Andres
